Reporting "Asre Bazar", The Head of Tehran’s Chamber of Commerce Masoud Khansari said “following JCPOA, more than 200 commercial delegations have travelled to Iran, and Tehran’s chamber has hosted more than 60 delegations. Despite these interactions, no practical results have been achieved. According to reports by European Commission, the volume of trade between the two sides has doubled in the first half of the current year, however we had expected a much higher figure.”

He attributed the problem to two obstacles. One is an external issue related to Trump and the complications following his presidency; the other is internal complications due to sanctions and previous mismanagements. These two obstacles create flaws in the banking system and economy of the country.

So far Iran has signed a few important contracts with European countries such as France’s Total. Iranian officials have also made agreements with some automotive manufacturing companies.

Khansari further talked about Iran’s rank in World Development Indicators saying the country’s economy suffers from unfavorable conditions with regard to economic freedom, economic corruption, inflation and business environment which lower its ranks. However he was optimistic that such problems would be solved with the help of consultations from major financial institutes.

Pointing to the recent achievements of Iran, Khansari said “we have established dialogues with some of the most renowned insurance companies of the world with whom we are trying to sign various agreements.

It is worth noting that a representative from PWC, the second largest professional services firm in the world, was present at the opening ceremony of Tehran’s Chamber of Commerce in London.
